Her Holiness Shinso Ito is currently the spiritual and administrative head of Shinnyo-en. In fact, she is the Buddhist world's only female denominational head. As his most accomplished disciple, Her Holiness Shinso Ito was selected for this honored role by her father, Master Shinjo Ito before he passed away in 1989.For devotees, they are both contemporary Buddhist masters and models for understanding how to apply the Buddha’s teaching to modern life.
